Campus PSA — read this before your next Brewhouse pregame

Kent State PSA · Downtown Kent, OH

Carded. Served.
Then tossed out.

The patron was 21, with the ID to prove it — and Brewhouse still found a way to make it their problem. Here's exactly what went down, and why they're never pregaming there again.

The short version, in order

No embellishment — the sequence of events, so you can decide for yourself what it looks like.

Call it what you want. They're calling it a setup.

The same door that marked them as a minor is the same bar that kept pouring. Make it make sense.

They're not about to pretend they can read minds — they don't know what anybody was thinking. But they know what happened to their hand and their wallet: they paid for drinks they never got to finish, over a mistake that wasn't theirs, and walked away with nothing to show for it.

Where it went down

For anyone who still wants to risk it, or just wants to know exactly which door to avoid.

E MAIN ST N WATER ST RIVER

Not to scale — just enough to find the door you should skip

Also known around campus as one of the only downtown bars that lets under-21 students in, so a decent chunk of you have probably already got a story kind of like this one.

Don't let this happen to you

  1. Photograph the stamp or wristband and your ID, side by side, before you hand your ID over and again after you get it back.
  2. Get the manager's name on duty, in writing if you can — a text to yourself with the time works fine.
  3. Note who served you versus who walked you out. Those might not be the same conversation, and that gap matters.
  4. Report broken ID-checking to the Ohio Investigative Unit (Ohio Department of Public Safety) — mismarking a legal adult as underage and then serving them anyway is exactly the kind of thing liquor licensing enforcement exists for.
  5. Leave a review with specifics, not just a star rating. "They stamped me wrong and kept my money" tells the next person more than one star ever will.
